YP– Armenian Christmas Night
After the New Year’s celebrations, the Young Professionals of "Parekorzagan"
Sofia organized a traditional Christmas and New Year’s dinner. With it, YP closed
the series of thematic nights devoted to the one hundredth anniversary of the
founding of the Armenian General Benevolent Union "Parekorzagan". This was how
on 13 January the Young Professionals celebrated the Armenian Christmas per the
old calendar and demonstrated their culinary skills to the overcrowded hall of
the Armenian cultural centre. Read more.
Cooperative venture of AGBU AYA and YP
12th and 13th August 2006 turned into a weekend when the members of AYA and
YP worked for the blossoming of the Armenian community in Sofia. The young people
used their spare time on Saturday to continue the work on “Erevan” public garden.
The brigade dressed up, put on the gloves, grabbed the brushes and began painting
the fence. After a few hours the difference was obvious, the fence looked like
a new one and the youths promised themselves that the work on “Erevan” won’t end
up here.
24 June 2006. AGBU-Sofia’s YP group delivered its third national cuisine
night at the Armenian Center in Sofia
In the heated dusk of Saturday, June 24, while Sweden was seeing its national
soccer team kicked out of the World Cup and Mexico and Argentina were warming
up for an epic battle, the YP’s had already ‘warmed’ up and were welcoming their
guests for the Greek Cuisine Night. Learn more here.
War in the ranks of AGBU- Sofia
On 18 June 2006 in the growing heat of a Sunday morning, 30 AYA and YP's gathered
in the square of the mountainous Sofia suburb Dragalevtsi. This wasn’t you average
meeting but rather the rally of two armies. The enthusiasts came together for
their first team-building exercise – a game of paintball in the rugged and woody
terrain above Dragalevtsi. Soon after the troops were rallied they drew lots and
split into Green team and Black team. After complete suit-up and brief strategy
discussions it was time to make war.
Two hours and several games later, the trigger happy people came out of the
woods as they had exhausted both ammo and adrenaline. Each team had their wins
and losses, yet this game was not about victors and losers. It was about relying
on and backing up your teammates and of course having fun.
‘Battle debriefing’ took place in the cool garden of a traditional Bulgarian
tavern where all relaxed, shared experiences, boasted feats of bravery and had
a ton of laughs. At the end AYA and YP’s made better friends and a stronger team
altogether. You can see pictures from the battle here.
AGBU YP-Sofia did it again! In just one day the Sofia YP's miraculously
transformed the main hall of the Armenian Center into a traditional Lebanese restaurant
and entertained 84 guests to raise funds for the renovation of the center's inner
courtyard. Picture the following:
The recently formed section of the Young professionals of AGBU Parekordzagan-
Sofia organized another event, long since prepared and planned for the late afternoon.
The debut of the YP’s was impressing and none of the more than 70 guests of the
Italian cuisine night did not realize that only the young people’s enthusiasm
made things look so professional. The gentle Italian music, the cozy atmosphere,
amazing menu, sincere conversations… and last but not least- excellent start of
a noble initiative of the YP section -to renovate and repair the falling to pieces
inner courtyard of the Armenian center in Sofia with the raised money. Information for the event you may find here.
