AGBU mission
To preserve and promote the Armenian identity and heritage through educational,
cultural and humanitarian programs.
What is YP?
AGBU Young Professionals (YP) is a growing network of 19 YP Groups and supporters
around the world which promotes the Armenian identity and heritage specifically
for young Armenian professionals between the ages of 22 to 40.
The Global Mission of YP is to engage young professionals in making Armenian
communities around the world thriving, better places to live through civic involvement
and international cooperation.
Fulfilling the mission of AGBU, YP Groups around the world share a unified goal
to add dimensions to the lives of young Armenian professionals by providing a
platform to:
- Improve community life through worthwhile educational, cultural, and humanitarian
programs,
- Make a difference in Armenia and Karabakh by fundraising for key AGBU programs,
and
- Network and partner with young Armenians, as well as other Armenian organizations,
all over the world to perpetuate the Armenian identity.
YP Sofia was created as an informal group in 2005.
In support of the global mission, YP Sofia is setting the following goals for
itself:
- To expand and maintain a dynamic network of Armenian YPs and friends of the
Armenians
- To actively participate in the Armenian community life and engage in the community
problems
- To support regionally and globally the mission of AGBU – to develop and build
Armenian values and traditions among young people in the community.
To achieve its goals YP Sofia will:
- Organize events networking events for YPs to introduce new Armenians to the
community
- Organize monthly meetings of the group to build and develop the group
- Organize fundraising events in support of projects related to the community
(Armenian community center, church, daycare and school etc.)
- Participate in meetings and events of European YP groups
- Create and disseminate an electronic newsletter about the community life in
Sofia
- Participate in the working group engaged in the process of consolidation of
the community
- Maintain an active discussion forum on issues of importance for the Armenian
community
